A rare and exceptionally early French 18K gold open faced verge pocket watch with a hidden erotic scene, circa 1780. Gilded spindle movement, verge escapement.
The case back with an oval medallion depicting the polychrome enamel portrait of a lady, both sides set with stones, Louis XV outer hinge, an unusual and rare case construction because the back cover can be opened, hiding an erotic scene. White enamel Louis XV dial with radial Roman hours, outer minutes track with Arabic five-minute numerals and very fine hands.
