Gold open faced pocket watch by France Chastant

A French lever chronometer in practically new condition, circa 1890. Most probably a graduate’s piece of the watchmaking school in Besançon.
The engine-turned case is 18-carat pink gold. The dial is white enamel, signed, has Roman hours, Arabic minutes, a subsidiary dial for the seconds and gold Louis XV hands. It has a bridge movement, ébauche: LeCoultre, gold screw compensation balance with gold and platinum regulation screws, and a helical Palladium balance spring.
