French watchmaker, Auguste Hilaire Rodanet was the son of Julien Hilaire Rodanet and Elisabeth Saumon de Sénac. He was also the uncle of Henri Rodanet. Auguste was born on June 5, 1837 in Rochefort-sur-Mer. He was a watchmaker, dealer and agent for Patek Philippe in France. In 1858 , at the age of 21, he won a silver medal for a chronometer. In 1867, Auguste Hilaire issued watches from his father in Geneva. His business in Rochefort was at 54 rue (Cochon) Duvivier (view this place), in Paris he moved to 36 rue Vivienne (view this place) in the year1870. A Bulle watch developed by Maurice Favre-Bulle was sold by the company von Rodanet around 1900, but this watch has the signature AH Rodanet and L. Senselme Sce. (Successeur). Either the Rodanet business was continued by L. Senselme or L. Senselme was the original owner of the company.
