Swiss watch manufacturer, jeweller and watch dealer in Geneva and Paris.
Frères Melly was the continuation of Les Frères Melly. In 1789, Henri Melly was the only partner in the five brothers still alive. His son Jean Robert Melly took over the business and continued to run it under the name Frères Melly until 1794. Or maybe Jean André Melly was his business partner. Then Henri Martin became his business partner, and the company was renamed, Frères Melly & Martin.
–
Les Frères Melly was founded in 1753 by watchmaker Henri Melly and his four older brothers, Goldsmith and jeweller André Melly, goldsmith and watchmaker Jacob Melly, goldsmith and jeweller Etienne Melly, goldsmith and jeweller Jean Melly. In 1769 the company was officially called “Messrs. Les Frères Melly et Cie. Associé Marchands” and was an important and respected company. In 2010, a table clock from 1770 was sold in England, signed “Frères Melly Londres”, which means that there was also a branch in England.
