A French fine and rare pair cased gilt brass single hand verge watch with alarm, circa 1690, gilt full plate verge movement signed ‘Mauris a Marseille’, three arm balance, pierced and engraved balance cock, fusée for the going train, decorated alarm barrel.
Gilt brass champleve dial, roman numerals, central alarm disc with tulip alarm hands, finely decorated outer case, inner case with band pierced and engraved with foliage and grotesques, back engraved with a landscape scene.
