A French rare gold enamel pocket watch for the Ottoman Market with original gold enamel winding key, circa 1800.
18 carat gold enamel case; white enamel dial with Ottoman numerals; full plate movement, chain/fusee and three-arm brass balance. Movement and dial signed.
Symbols of science have been painted “en grisaille” on opaque black enamel ground. They are framed by summer flowers and the bezels are also decorated with white and gold Champlevé flowers. Pendant and bow are ornamented with floral and geometric Champlevé enamel.
