A rare French two coloured gold and enamel pair cased pocket watch made by Lépine
in Paris, circa 1780. The gilded brass protective case is red lacquered and has a large lateral hinge. The 22 carat gold inner case features engraved rims with applied flower and foliate decor, a paste set bezel, on the reverse, a very finely polychrome enamel gallant scene, a large lateral hinge and paste set thumb piece. The white enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minute numerals and blued lozenge hands. The fire gilt key wind full plate movement is fitted with a chain and fusee, solid movement pillars, a verge escapement, three arm brass balance, and a fine florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
