Gold single-handed watch by Breguet

A fine, large French, 18K gold, experimental montre de souscription pocket watch, circa 1799. Sold to Monsieur Ledoyen on 13 Thermidor an 6 (August 2, 1799) for 840 francs. Later custom made a polished case. White enamel dial, souscription type, Breguet numerals and outer five-minute divisions, secret signature below XII o’clock. Blued steel souscription hand with a tapered point. A gilt brass movement, souscription calibre with curved bridges, centre standing barrel, overhanging ruby cylinder escapement, gilt brass three-arm balance, bimetallic compensation curb attached to the index regulator, winding from the front only. Dial and movement signed.
