A rare early quarter repeating pocket watch with Sully type frictional rest escapement. This probably is the only existing pocket watch that combines a Sully type escapement with a striking mechanism, circa 1780. Silver case, polished, large lateral hinge. Enamel dial, Roman hours, gold “Poker & Beetle” hands. Fine full plate movement, keywind, regilt, chain/fusee, moulded movement pillars, Sully type frictional rest escapement with vertical escape wheel, three arm brass balance, blued balance spring, very nely orally engraved, pierced balance cock.
