Royal watchmaker Isaac T(h)uret II, Paris, circa 1630-1706, was considered one of the greatest watchmakers of his time. The great Leibniz called him “Thuret the famous watchmaker” and the astronomer Richer stated that Thuret “outperformed all those who were involved in the production of watches and pendulum clocks by his accuracy and the fineness of his work”. Thuret’s activity was intense, the King, the Royal Family, the ministers, the great financiers and the members of the nobility were all his clients.
