Gilt-brass single-handed pocket watch by Etienne Hubert

A fine and rare French gilt-brass key-winding Bassine-type pocket watch with open face, circa 1660.
Full plate, gilded fire brass movement, baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance with two arms (polished steel), pierced and engraved gilded continental Louis XIII cock, silver regulator disc. White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, in the centre a garland of flowers, and original blued steel single hand. Two-piece case, engraved with foliages, the back pierced, inside a blued steel plate to give a special effect. Later pair-cased glazed and later outer case (circa 1730-1740; Ø 41 mm). Movement signed.
