A rare French yellow gold quarter repeating à toc key wound open faced pocket watch, circa 1789. It features a gilded brass movement with a cylinder escapement, repeating through two polished steel hammers. The white enamel dial includes Arabic numerals, an outer minute track, and moon hands. The 18 carat yellow gold guilloché case is stamped with French control marks for Paris 1785 and has an inscribed cuvette, a pusher for repetition via the pendant, and an opening mechanism operated by turning the pendant.

The case is in overall good condition. There is a dent in the center of the case back. The dial has a hairline at 12 o’clock and a small chip between 3 and 4 o’clock along the edge of the dial.
