Gold keyless lever watch

A fine German 14 carat pink gold open faced keyless pocket watch made by A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte, circa 1880. The stepped case with an engine turned back, plain bezels, pendant and bow and a gilt metal cuvette with the retailer’s signature G.H. Bethje Hamburg. White enamel dial with Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. Gilded brass ¾ plate movement with a going barrel, gold straight line lever escapement, compensated balance with gold poising screws and blued steel hairspring with terminal curve, and
a polished steel index regulator. The movement and cuvette are signed by the retailer.
