Around 1909, the Swiss Union Horlogère, whose main brand was Alpina, founded the Präzisions-uhrenfabrik Alpina Glashütte GmbH in Glashütte. From 1912 onwards, they manufactured precision pocket watches using Swiss Alpina ebauches under the signature “ Präzisions-uhrenfabrik Alpina Glashütte i/S”. The movements were completed with typical Glashütte gear parts, which identify them as a Glashütte product and clearly distinguish them from similar Swiss Alpina watches, such as an engraved balance cock with return spring fine adjustment, the Glashütte lever escapement, gold escape wheel, compensation balance with gold screws and the inscription “Glashütte” on the barrel bridge.
