Gold pair cased repoussé verge pocket watch

A very fine German, 20k gold repoussé pair cased, quarter repeating pocket watch with the signed outer case, circa 1760. The Rapt of Europa by G.F. Koerber, Frankfurt. The outer case is repoussé, signed D.S., decorated with a scene of the rapt of Europa, within an asymmetric rococo cartouche, pierced foliate outer border, bezel decorated to match. The inner case has a pierced and engraved band with inhabited foliage and a mask. Silvered dust cap.

White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track, five-minute Arabic numerals. Gold pierced hands. A hinged, frosted gilt full-plate movement with square baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance with flat balance spring, pierced and engraved single-footed silver cock, silver regulation dial, repeating on bell activated by depressing the pendant, originally à toc lever (now missing). Movement and dust cap signed.
