Extremely fine Glashütte chronometer

An extremely fine numbered Glashütte chronometer of the German Navy, made by Franz Lidecke in Geestemünde, Germany, circa 1925. The chronometer comes in a three part mahogany case with glazing in which it is gimbal suspended. The original silvered dial has Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at six o’clock, a power reserve indicator at twelve o’clock and gold hands. The movement has a detent chronometer escapement with helical hairspring, a large Richard Griesbach chronometer balance with four helical weights and two weight screws.
Dial and wooden case have matching numbers and are signed.

Franz Lidecke

Franz Lidecke learned the craftsmanship from his father, from 1893 to 1894 he completed an apprenticeship in the master class of the German Watchmaking School Glashütte and received a certificate of recognition from the Großmann Foundation.
