Gold, enamel, and diamond set watch by A. Lange & Söhne

A German pink gold, enamel, and diamond set hunting cased lady’s watch with a gold, black enamel, and pearl set chain, circa 1890. This watch features a gilded 2/3 plate movement with gold lever and escape wheel, bimetallic compensation balance, and ruby endstone, and is signed and numbered A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte b/Dresden, with the serial number 17306. It has a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, an outer minute ring with red Arabic numerals, gold Louis XV style hands, and a sunken subsidiary seconds dial also signed A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte B/Dresden.

The gold case is adorned with chased and engraved bezels, black enamel panels on each side, and a central diamond bordered by further diamonds on the front, while the back features a single rose cut diamond. The plain polished gold cuvette is also numbered 17306, with the front cover numbered 6. It comes with a later yellow gold chain with black enamel cylindrical links interspersed with pearls and French control marks.

The movement runs smoothly, and the hands wind and set without issue. The surfaces are in good, clean condition. The dial is also in good, clean condition, with only a couple of minor scratches on the subsidiary seconds. The case is in good overall condition, with a few small scratches on the enamel. The inside back lacks control marks but is stamped 18k. The chain is in good overall condition, with a few minor nibbles on the enamel cylinders.
