A rare Glashütte lady’s pocket watch with a biblical quotation from the Gospel of Mark, chapter 13, verse 29: Sehet zu, wachet und betet, denn Ihr wisset nicht, wann es Zeit ist (even so you also, when you see these things coming to pass, know that it is near, at the doors), circa 1896. The watch is 18-carat gold and features a polished, monogrammed case with a Lucia design and gold dome. The enamel dial is signed and displays Arabic Empire numerals, an auxiliary seconds indicator, and gold spade hands. The watch is powered by a 3/4 plate movement with a frosted, gilt finish, a gold screw compensation balance, a blued balance spring, a beautifully hand-engraved balance cock with floral designs, and a gold lever and escape wheel.
