A German important and very big A. Lange & Söhne Ankerchronometer/test chronometer of the Leipzig Observatory, circa 1889. It is the rarest version, 18K pink gold Louis XV with original box and extract of the archive.
18-carat pink gold, à goutte, Louis XV case with glazed movement. Matching number on case and movement. Ankerchronometer movement in quality 1A with gold lever, gold escape wheel, screwed gold chaton, fine adjusting device, diamond endstone and very big chronometer balance. White enamel dial with black hours, red minutes, sunk subsidiary dial for the constant seconds and pink gold Louis XV hands. Dial and movement signed.

The watch is a Lange Ankerchronometer of the highest class, on the one hand, because of the particularly rare pink gold Louis XV case; on the other hand, it is one of the few Ankerchronometer that had a chronometer test at the observatory in Leipzig. It was one of the most expensive Ankerchronometers made by A. Lange & Söhne in this design and cost 775 DM in 1889.
