Pocket watch by Johann Khornmann

A rare and early silver Augsburg pair cased hour repeating verge watch with shagreen outer case, circa 1690. Full plate fire gilt movement, pierced and engraved balance cock and foot, silver regulator disc, fusee and chain with worm and wheel barrel setup between the plates, decorative tulip pillars. Splendid champlevé dial with a central scene with birds and foliage, steel poker and beetle hands, Roman hours and Arabic minutes. Hour striking is activated by pushing the pendant, and striking on a bell. The inner case is pierced and engraved with putto’s, birds and foliage.

Listed in Augsburg circa 1700, full name Johann Georg Khornmann, possibly identical to Johan Khornmann from Austria, who also made pocket watches from 1700, also with Johan Georg Khornmann Friedberg, who made pocket watches of this style around 1720.
This watch was quarter-striking, but all parts have been removed.
probably the outer case has been replaced.
