Early oval clock watch with hour strike

An important, early and rare German, Augsburg Renaissance, verge clockwatch with hour self strike and stackfreed, circa 1590. Firegilt brass full plate movement, iron train, verge escapement, stackfreed, foliot and hog’s bristle, locking plate with internal teeth, 1 hammer/1 bell. Firegilt dial with engraved foliage decoration, lateral engraved with geometrical pattern, applied silver chapter ring with Roman numerals, metal touch pieces, the centre field engraved with a village, a river scene and a large castle on a hill, blued steel hand. Large, oval firegilt and silver case, lavishly florally pierced, lateral engraved with geometrical pattern, front lid with 12 cut outs for the hours, florally engraved silver band with pierced floral and foliage design.
