Silver observation deck watch by A. Lange & Söhne
–
An excellently preserved German Glashütte observation deck chronometer with original box, circa 1940-1968. This collector’s watch from Glashütte is a fine timepiece with a solid silver case and a back that bears a later military dedication. The case and movement both have the same matching number 208415. It features an Ankerchronometer calibre 48 from the remaining stocks of A. Lange & Söhne Glashütte. The watch has an original silvered dial with radial hours, an outer minutes track, and a subsidiary dial for the seconds. The dial also has a power reserve indicator and blued steel hands. It is in excellent condition and in working order. This watch comes with a rare original box and is signed on the case, movement, and dial. The original box is also signed.

The marine observation clock in the picture is an example of a clock whose body was manufactured by A. Lange & Söhne. You can identify these clocks by the GUB company logo embossed in a cartouche-like, milled, semicircular recess. The location where the A. Lange & Söhne company logo was previously milled out.

It was only in 1956 after these clocks were completed and switched on, that GUB began producing their own clocks.
