An English fusee chronometer in a decorative 18-carat gold full hunter case, hallmarked London 1866. Gilt three-quarter plate keywind movement with fusee and chain. Harrison’s maintaining power. Plain cock with diamond endstone. Heavy compensation balance with free-sprung blue steel helical hairspring. Earnshaw type spring detent chronometer escapement. Screwed in jewelling, escape pivots with endstones. White enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals, blue steel hands. Substantial case profusely chased and engraved overall with floral decoration, vacant shield-shaped cartouche on the from cover. Wound and set through the gold cuvette which also bears decorative floral engraving. Maker’s mark ‘AS’ in a rectangle.
