A rare English keyless fusee chronometer in a gold 18 carat open faced case, hallmarked London 1895. Gilt half plate keyless movement with fusee and chain. Harrison’s maintaining power. Engraved cock with diamond endstone. Heavy compensation balance with free-sprung helical blue steel hairspring. Earnshaw spring detent chronometer escapement, escape pivots with endstones. Signed white enamel dial with subsidiary seconds, Roman numerals and blue steel hands. Substantial case, the back with a monogram in translucent dark blue enamel. Plain gold cuvette, button in the band depressed when winding the watch. Maker’s mark ‘JW’ in a rectangle and number corresponding to that on the movement.
