A heavy French 18 Carat gold hour and half hour repeating clock watch, circa 1830. Full plate gilt very complicated verge movement, plain balance cock, these repeaters such as this example are much more advanced and complex. Using a double barrel, this timepiece chimes with a simple push of the small button on the pendant and the chiming function can be repeated several times at will before the spring needs to be rewound. Repeating hours and half hours. There is a slide in the band at 9 o’clock to block self-striking. Two barrels: one for winding the gear train and the other for winding for repeating and self-striking train, self-striking hours and half hours.
Screwed white enamel dial with Roman numerals and Arabic outer minute track blued steel hands. Gold polished case with a reeded band. Hinged sprung gilt metal cuvette with push slide to open.
