Pocket watch with chronometer escapement
–
A heavy  18 Carat cold full hunting cased “Chronometre” pocket watch with chronometer escapement, made by Paul Jeannot in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1880. The full hunting case is made of 18 Carat gold and is engine turned, both inside and out. The factory glazing adds an extra layer of protection to the intricate design. The champlevé enamel dial is a work of art in its own right. It features an outer ring with Roman numerals for the hours, a subsidiary dial at six o’clock with Arabic numerals for the minutes and blued steel hands. But it’s not just the aesthetics that make this watch special. The movement features a fine chronometer escapement with screwed gold chatons, 18 rubies and a special rocker. These features ensure that the watch keeps accurate time, even under the most challenging conditions.
To top it all off, the case and movement have matching numbers and the dial and dust cover are signed.
