It was in 1848 that Louis Audemars ceased making ebauches and moved on to producing complete watches. This watch is considered to be one of the most complicated pieces of its time. At the 1851 Crystal Palace Exhibition in London, Audemars showed ten watches with different escapements and complications, and was awarded a First Class Medal.
