A pocket watch with double case made by James Chater & Son in London, England, circa 1770. The open faced double case is crafted from silver and the white enamel dial has Arabic minute- and Roman hour numerals and gold Louis XIV hands. The numbered movement is elaborately decorated with a portrait of a man and has a fire gilt verge escapement.
