A large and heavy Swiss 18 carat gold hunting cased pocket chronometer made for the Spanish market, circa 1880. Fine bridge movement with a spring detent chronometer escapement, a large gold screw compensation balance and blued, cylindrical balance spring. White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, sunk subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and spade & whip hands. The case is engine turned on both sides with florally engraved bezels and a reeded band, a central blank cartouche on the front, an engraved star on the back. Dial and movement signed, case numbered twice.
