An exceptionally large Swiss 18 Carat gold open faced lever pocket watch, Chronometro Gondolo, made for Gondolo & Labouriau Relojoeiros, Rio de Janeiro, circa 1910. The cuvette is inscribed with Fabricado expressamente para Gondolo & Labouriau Relojoeiros, Rio de Janeiro, Chronometro Gondolo. This watch has the largest case design from the Gondolo series, it is engine-turned on the back and has polished bezels. The original white enamel dial has Roman hours, Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock and blued steel Breguet hands. The movement has a Patek Philippe ankerchronometer escapement of the highest quality with gold wheels, patented fine adjustment, wolf’s teeth, a moustache lever and a particularly large chronometer balance.
Dial signed by the watchmaker, cuvette numbered and signed by the retailer and watchmaker, movement numbered and signed by the watchmaker, case numbered.
