A fine and rare English gold open faced keyless chronometer pocket watch with pre patent carrousel, circa 1882. Gilt half plate movement, Earnshaw type spring detent escapement, 52½ minute carrousel carriage with foliate engraved cock, freesprung balance, diamond endstone. Gold cuvette. White enamel dial, Roman numerals, subsidiary seconds and blued steel moon hands. 18 Carat polished case with moulded bezels. Dial and movement signed, case hallmarked London 1882, case maker’s mark FT.
