Professor Thomas Engel is internationally known for his research into the production of polymers. He has also applied his skills to horology with a particular interest in the life and works of Abraham-Louis Breguet. Over the years he has produced some very fine watches which are inspired by the techniques that were used by Breguet.
–
This highly complicated watch bears a very close resemblance to the watch numbered 2807 made by Abraham-Louis Breguet in circa 1817. The configuration of the dial is very similar, displaying the mean and sidereal time in symmetrical sub dials with applied star and sun symbols above. Thomas Engel shows his immense skill as a watchmaker in paying homage to Breguet by emulating this ‘equation of time’ watch and also incorporating his own developments to give it his own unique style.
