A rare and unusual Swiss silver open faced keyless lever deck watch, supplied to the Argentine Navy, circa 1890. Nickel finished jewelled lever movement, bimetallic compensation balance, micrometer regulator, wolf’s tooth winding. Silver cuvette engraved Marina Argentina Cronometro. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, blued steel spade hands, outer Arabic five minute divisions and subsidiary seconds. Case with hinged back also engraved Marina Argentina Cronometro and with the military number Navegacion 60638-Ci, large pink gilt ball shaped crown and rose gold three part hinges. Case, cuvette and movement signed and numbered, movement also signed Marina Argentina Cronometro, dial signed.
