A Swiss rose gold and enamel watch in the form of a neapolitan mandolin with concealed dial, circa 1830. Gilt brass full plate movement, verge escapement, cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, pierced and engraved cock, plain three armed balance. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals. Two part case, sound board with red champlevé enamel with a white enamel and gold wreath border to the sound hole, black enamelled neck, vaulted back with alternating sections of engraved gold musical instruments and foliage on a red ground, black and white ribs, gold suspension chain.
