Quarter repeating verge with matching chatelaine by Moreaux

Rare French gold and painted en grisaille enamel manually wound dumb quarter repeating pocket watch with matching chatelaine en suite and key, circa 1770. Gilt brass full plate movement, turned baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-armed balance, gilt brass French cock. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer Arabic minutes and aperture for winding arbour. Bezel with flowers and foliate in blue enamel, the back and the chatelaine four panels all finely decorated with neoclassical allegorical scenes almost painted en grisaille (monochrome) enamel cartouches surrounded by green and white enamels overlaid on a chased gold background. Dial and movement signed.
