A fine and rare French 18 carat rose gold pair cased à toc quarter repeating open faced keywound watch with virgule escapement, circa 1792. Sold to M. Groi. Gilt finished virguile escapement movement, plain three armed brass balance with parachute on the top pivot, blued steel flat balance spring with bimetallic compensation curb on the regulator, á toc quarter repeating on a polished steel hammers onto the case activated through the pendant. Gilt cuvette. White enamel dial with Breguet numerals. Plain case, hinged back, with a shagreen outer case. Cuvette signed and numbered, dial signed.
