A fine and early English 20 carat gold Puritan pre hairspring verge watch with outer protective case, circa 1675. Gilt finished verge movement, chain fusée, finely chased, pierced and engraved foliage decorated balance cock and foot, steel two armed pre hairspring balance wheel, worm set-up with blued steel decorative mounts, silver regulation dial, Egyptian pillars. Gilt dial with engraved and blackened Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half hour divisions, finely engraved lakeside scene to the centre, single blued steel hand. Plain case, winding hole slide cover, split bezel with seven piece hinge, gilt pinwork floral decorated leather covered gilt metal outer protective case. Movement signed.
