An extremely rare and small French silver and gilt brass octagonal miniature pendant watch, circa 1640. Fire gilt full plate movement, chain and fusee, three-armed brass balance without balance spring, fine florally engraved, pierced balance cock. Fire-gilded brass dial, silver chapter ring with Roman hours, lavishly engraved with entwined leaves and masks, Leda and the swan above the chapter ring, the centre decorated with houses on a lakeshore, blued hand. The case florally engraved with mystic creatures and foliage, Mary with child on the front and the back with Saint Louis. Movement signed.
