Single handed pocket watch by Tvret
–
A rare and exquisite French gilt brass and metal pocket watch, circa 1690. This watch features a chain driven fusee movement with a spiral spring. It has a typical Louis XIV dial, adorned with chased and gilded decoration, where hours are indicated in enamel cartouches with Roman numerals, and it has an arrow hand. The gilt brass case is finely chased and engraved with Berain decoration, and there is domed glass on both sides. The large enameled cock is in very good condition, a woman’s portrait, and pendulum set with a star that reproduces the movements of the balance.
