Edward Prior was a London watchmaker of high repute, specializing in watches for Turkey and the Ottoman Empire. He was born in 1800 and died in 1868. His father was the English watchmaker John Prior (or Josephus Pryor) who was based in Nessfield, England. Edward ran a watch workshop in London with his brother George. The company/watch brand Edward Prior continued after Prior’s death. Around 1900, the Swiss watch company Constant Piguet supplied a pocket watch with a Westminster chime to Edward Prior for the Ottoman market.
