Rare Swiss full hunter cased keyless pocket watch with perpetual calendar

A very fine and rare, full hunter cased, keyless 18 Carat gold pocket watch with a perpetual calendar with flyback date and a gilt chain and penknife. Attributed to H.R. Ekegrèn, Geneva, ‘Quantieme Perpetuel’ and retailed by Guy, Palais Royal No. 16, Paris. Made circa 1870.
Four body, bassine et filets and polished case with a front cover with an engraved foliate monogram highlighted with red, blue and white enamel and a hinged gold cuvette.
White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, subsidiary dials for the seconds and the months, aperture for the days of the week, retrograde date sector in red and gold spade hands.
Matte gilt movement with 15 jewels, wolf’s tooth winding, straight line lever escapement, cut bi metallic compensation balance with gold meantime and temperature adjustment screws, blued steel Breguet balance spring with over coil and an index regulator.
Cuvette signed by the retailer.

The watch shown is of high quality and is particularly interesting because it exhibits a very rarely found and sophisticated horological feature. The perpetual calendar with retrograde date is extremely uncommon and was made by very few workshops, among them H. R. Ekegrèn, Breguet and Marius LeCoultre
