The brothers Henri -Louis Courvoisier and Philippe-Auguste Courvoisier traded from 1842 under the name “Courvoisier Frères”. Specializing in high-quality clocks, they were commissioned in the same year by the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds to build a clock for the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV. This is supposed to have been the thinnest clock in the world at the time. The company Courvoisier Frères was historically a successor to the company Courvoisier & Cie.
