Rosewood watch with anchor escapement

A fine French, eight-day going rosewood hour and half-hour striking, circa 1840. Octagonal rosewood with gilt brass bezel and loose-ring pendant, inlaid with lemonwood foliate decoration. Frosted silvered dial with Roman numerals. Blued steel Breguet hands. Gilt brass circular, Movement the Paris, going barrel both on the going and the striking trains, anchor escapement, short pendulum with spring suspension. Striking on a bell with count wheel on the backplate. Property of a Swiss Gentleman.
