Impressive French gold enamel verge pocket watch from Paris, circa 1800. This exquisite watch boasts an enamel dial with Arabic radial hours, an outer minute track with numerals in fifteen-minute intervals, and original hands. It features a full plate movement with a verge escapement, chain/fusee, and a three-arm brass balance. The 18k gold case is adorned with polychrome enamel. The back is painted with a gallant scene in an idyllic landscape. The background is radially guilloched and enamelled in translucent cobalt blue. A delicate border frames the scene. The pendant, temple and bezel on the front are decorated with blue, white and gold champlevé enamel with bright blue paillons.
