Large four-colour Rococo verge watch with diamonds
–
A large four-colour Rococo verge watch with diamonds, made by Augustine Bourdillon in Stockholm, Sweden, circa 1760. This timepiece boasts an 18 carat gold open faced glazed case adorned with a romantic relief scene on the back, worked in four gold colours and an opening button set with a large diamond. The white enamel dial of this clock is a rare sight to behold, featuring hands set with diamonds, Roman numerals for the hours and an outer ring with Arabic numerals for the minutes. The combination of these elements creates an elegant and sophisticated appearance. The movement of this clock features a verge escapement and a particularly large balance wheel, ensuring that the clock keeps time accurately and reliably.
Dial and movement are both signed.
