One of the earliest surviving “Caliber Jones” watches
–
One of the earliest surviving Caliber Jones watches in the original gold splendour case, made by the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, circa 1872. The magnificently decorated, heavy hunter case of this pocket watch is crafted from 14 carat gold and features engine turned lids, an empty cartouche on the back and a dustcover with a dedication from ’91. The enamel dial features an outer minutes and hour track with Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and Breguet steel hands. The numbered early caliber Jones type B movement is equipped with a lever type 1 escapement and is marked Romney.
The dial is signed.
