Swiss 14 carat gold full hunter pocket watch, circa 1880. Swiss lever movement, bimetallic split balance, signed J.J. Badolett on white enamel dial, black Arabic numerals, fancy hands, subsidiary seconds dial. Five piece hinged case, the covers with decoration, the front cover engraved GEL.

Jean Jacques Bailollet (1756-1829) was active as a watchmaker from 1770 and founded the firm in 1779. They bought ebauches, finished them and marketed them, as well as brokering ebauches to other finishers. The Badollets were an eminent family of watchmakers and watch firms with an unbroken succession from the sixteenth to the early twentieth centuries.
