Heavy pocket watch with bird Hallmark
–
A heavy, early ‘Jones’ gold hunter cased pocket watch, made by the International Watch Company in Schaffhausen, Switzerland, circa 1872. This watch features an original numbered full hunter and coin banded case crafted from 14 carat gold and an engraved cuvette. The enamel dial features an outer minutes and hour track with Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and filigreed steel hands. The numbered early caliber Jones type B movement is equipped with a lever type 1 escapement and is marked Romney, probably referring to Jones’ birthplace Rumney in New Hampshire in the United States of America.
The dial is signed.
