Gold hunting cased keyless repeating lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 14 carat yellow gold full hunter quarter repeating pocket watch with matching chain made by La Maisonnette, circa 1910. This watch has a mechanical crown winding manual movement featuring a lever escapement with stone pallets, screwed chatons, and a quarter repeating mechanism striking the hours and quarters. The guilloché gold coloured dial shows elegant black Arabic numerals for the hours, outer minute dots, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and blued steel hands. The timepiece is housed in a 14 carat yellow gold full hunter case with a polished hinged protective front cover adorned with a rich guilloché star decoration. It has a fluted winding crown, a sturdy round suspension bow, and comes with a 14 carat yellow gold decorative links chain weighing 14.8 grams.

Paul Matthey Doret registered the La Maisonnette trademark in 1882 in Le Locle, a key Swiss watch industry centre. Though a brand name, La Maisonnette often sourced movements from specialised manufacturers like Barbezat Baillot/Le Phare, known for innovative, complex watches such as quarter- and minute repeaters and chronographs. Their watches feature finely finished steel parts and high-quality escapements. Around 1900, they targeted the international luxury market, exporting to Russia and customising for retailers in Spain and South America.
