Gold hunting cased keyless lever watch
–
A fine Swiss 14 carat yellow gold full hunter pocket watch, circa 1910. It has a high grade finger bridge mechanical crown winding movement (remontoir) with a 15 jewel straight line lever escapement (ancre ligne droite). This features a screwed gold chaton setting, a compensated balance wheel (balancier compensé), a Breguet overcoil hairspring (spiral Breguet), and is numbered on the movement. The white enamel dial has black Roman numerals for the hours, an outer railway minute track with Arabic five minute numerals from 5 to 60, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, and a single gold hour hand that is damaged; the minute hand is missing.

The timepiece is housed in a round three body, 14 carat solid yellow gold full hunter case. This case has a smooth, plain, polished spring hinged front cover centring a free coat of arms cartouche, a matching smooth, plain, polished reverse back cover, a delicately fluted caseband, a gilt metal winding crown, a sturdy round gilt metal suspension bow, and a solid 14 carat gold inner protective cuvette. The cuvette is beautifully hand engraved with the movement specifications. It features the central maker’s logo with the letters JF framed by a decorative shield and foliage alongside the serial number.
